Day 7: Denver, Anton the Russian Guy

This mission trip has been an amazing one. So much people have opened up and helped out homeless people and showed those people Christ. The main part of what we learned is that everyone has a story that is important to know about because that’s the best way you will ever truly know a person. Today started out really well, we woke up, ate breakfast, made lunch and then went to go take a shower. Once we started driving to the area we going to work at, I was curious on what we were going to do. We ended up going to a place called World Vision. We found out we had to go and put clothes in to boxes to ship them around the world. I thought that was pretty cool and was ready to work hard. During the whole thing I was slowing down and knew I had to step it up, and after we had a little break Luke, nick, and I decided to step it up and we worked hard. We got box after box and kept on going for the longest time. It was awesome how well our teamwork was working and how hard all of us were going. We eventually finished and cleaned up. We found out that all of us together packed nine thousand different kinds of clothes. I thought that was awesome, and a good experience. After that we had lunched and went to our next destination.

Our next part was more of a relax time. Our group was able to choose between going back to the church and relaxing or go to a park and store to have fun. We all decided that the second choice would be better. Once we got to the store we found out it was REI and were confused. How were we going to buy anything from this store? When we were at the store we just hung out and looked around. Everything there was expensive and we saw socks for 55.00 dollars!  Sonny Brendan and I eventually decided to go outside and check out the river and walk around. We had fun and found six flags with some cool roller coasters. After that we decided to head back and wanted to get something to drink. We went to starbucks that was attached to REI. We bought some smoothies and Brendan started talking to me and sonny about the cool scary story he made up. It was so funny, sonny started to spill his smoothie and everyone was laughing. We decided we had to go and get meet up with the rest of the group to get ready for the next part of our destination.

This part was the best of today and all the stuff I had done in Denver. It was the Emerson.  It was a great experience for me and everyone else. We were divided into groups and I was in a group with Anicia, Brendan, Caitie, Sue and me. We found out we had to go out for about four hours and become a homeless family. When we first started I was wondering how we are going to do this. Eventually we started talking to people and then God helped me open up and to hear people’s story. I talked to this one marine and he was telling how the government was not fair. It was interesting how I got to hear so much from this man and how I wanted to open up to him about Jesus. The overall experience was amazing and going through the city and seeing the differences between the bad parts and good parts. This trip was an awesome experience and I learned many things like getting to know people and hearing there story. Being able to go around and tell people about Jesus was something I was really happy about.
